The Mono Box is a collaborative, not-for-profit project supporting the development of emerging actors. Since its inception in 2013, The Mono Box has become a vital resource for young actors wanting to access the industry and for professionals wanting to develop their skills.
Created as an extension of the career support Polly Bennett and Joan Iyiola were giving each other when they started out in their theatre careers (a successful movement director and actor respectively) The Mono Box is committed to on-going actor training and empowering actors in what can seem like a daunting industry. Through the development of a unique play library, with texts donated by industry professionals, and collaborations with leading actors, directors, playwrights and practitioners, The Mono Box fast became a go-to resource and an affordable hub of alternative training opportunities.
Over the last 3 years, The Mono Box has welcomed over 2,500 actors through its doors and has had a strong, long-lasting impact. By providing opportunities in both theatre and film and creating a dialogue between the professional world and those who are emerging into it, The Mono Box participants have earned places at accredited drama schools, booked jobs and had the confidence to continue in their creativity.
Following a successful fundraising gala in 2016, the Co-Directors are now looking for a motivated individual to join the team and make their ambitions for the future a reality.
